THE ROUND TABLE.
: The December issue of the "Round .Table/, which is now on sale, will bo found extremely valuable by all who wish to obtain a competent grasp of the Imperial and international affairs brought into prominence by the war. Following lip the fine special war number, which they issued in September last, the publishers have on this occasion increased the size of the .quarterly by 50 per cent., and the December issue consists of upwards of throe hundred pages, 1 packed with interestmg and informative articles, dealing with vanous aspects of the war. The value of the "Eound Table" as. a • mirror of Imperial and international.'events is, of course, greatly increased by the fact that the aim of. its writers at all times to present a balanced statement of facts and an descent* to a merely exparte attitude. At the same-time there is nothing vaguo or indefinite about those contributions; to Imperial literature. They lead inevitably to conclusions supported in eveiy instance by a mass of carefully ordered evidence. Articles in the December issue deal with such groat quesrrnllH "Doctrine of Ascendancy" Ttussia and Her Ideals," and "War and financial Exhaustion," and in every instance they are handled with the lucidity and fairness which are constant and commendable features of the "Round Table" articles. Much valuable light is thrown upon the vexed problems of race and nationality, which have done so much to promote turmoil and unrest in Europe, and the text dealing with these subjects is supplemented by a number of carefullv prepared maps, which do a great deal to promote a clear grasp and'understanding of admittedly complex subjects. Other articles review the past progress and lessons of the war, and an especially interesting section is devoted to tho part that is being played by the various Dominions. Conducted, not for profit but as a cooperative enterprise in tho interests of the Empire, the "Round Table" is performing a splendid service in educating public opinion and making known the case for the Empire in all parts of the world. Reprints of some of tho more important articles published! in the speoial war number have been prepared ana aro available.
