THE NATIONAL RESERVE
WELLINGTON OFFICE-BEARERS. Encouraging support continues to be given the promoters of the National Reserve movement in Wellington, but last night members rolled up only in fair number to the Concert' Chamber of the Town Hall, where a general meeting was held. Major H. F. Davis presided, and said that the enrolments were coming in very fast indeed. The business, of the meeting was to elect officers for the Greater Wellington district. The first business was the election of a president." Colonel Porter was\ proposed by Major Davis, and seconded : by Dr. C. Prendergast Knight. The election was unanimous, and in accepting the position Colonel Porter said that he very much appreciated the honour bestowed on him.; .Ho would do bis utmost to carry out tho' work entailed ; he did not mind that work, for he realised, as they, must all do, that it was a serious business they were undertaking, and pot a piece of child's play. They were giving their services to the Empire. Members of the National were all willing, and underlying their motives was a desire to serve their country at the present time. (Applause.) - Major .Davis was unanimously elected vice-president, on the motion of Dr. C. P. Knight; Mr. Walter Leslie was eleoted hon. secretary: Mr. .1. P. Firth, hon. treasurer; and the following were elected to the committee: Messrs. A. Newton, C. B. Morison, K.C., A. T. Wells, H. A. Parkinson. W. Organ. G, K. James, Dr. C. P. Knight, W. H. Field, W. G. Steele, and H. A. M'Leod. A meeting of the Sonth Wellington | Centre will be held in the Lecture Hall of the Public Library, Newtown, on Monday evening.
