SEVERAL AWARDS GRANTED. ■J ; (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Christchurch, January 29. The Court of Directors .of the Royal Humane Society granted the. following ; (awards to-day:— ; J Case of Rima Sadaraka (21) for res- : 'cuing; two young men from drowning'at lAitutaki, Cook Islands, on January, 9, ■ 1914. On the above date ( there occurred > a terrific hurricane, the worst esperiI enced in the Islands for some years.; a : small trading steamer reached Aitutaki ; irom Rarotonga, about 2 p.m., but the f aea being so rough it was unable to ; ireach the shore. A boat went out to iattempt to reach the , schooner, but ! (being unable to do- so, was returning to ifche shore. when the boat • capsized, and 'sill the occupants thrown into the. surf. [Rima Sadaraka, one of the party, managed to reach the reef in safety, but seeing noma, of his companions in difficulty in the surf, he twice plunged into . .the water to their assistance, and at great personal risk he succeeded in r bringing two youths to the surface to regain their breath, and ultimately he brought them, one at a time, to the reef, whence they were ■ rescued in an exhausted " condition.
