POSTPONED THROUGH RAIN AFTER THREE RACES. IBy Meeram.—rrcsa ABaocletlomJ Auckland, January 29. Tho Summer Meeting .of the Takapuna Jockey Club opened to-day in wet weather. Piain fell continuously from 11 o'clock, and after the third race tho committee and tbo stipendiary stewards met to consider whether tho programme should be proceeded with,. It was eventnally decided to postpone the running of the remaining events till to-morrow. Despite the unfavourable conditions there was a fairly good attendance of the' public, and the sum of .£8678 10s. was put through the totalisator for the three events. Mecmillan, rider of Takanini in the Maiden Plate, was called before ■the stewards to explain his handling of that horse. After hearing his explanation the stewards administered a caution.
