MOTOR-CAR ACCIDENT. MIRACULOUS ESCAPE OP OCCUPANTS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Nelson, January 28. A motor-car, containing Mr. L. j. Frank and bis wife and daughter, Mr. C. R, Cooko and bis wife, and Mrs. R. P. Parker, while proceeding to Murchison yesterday, went oyer a bank in the Buller Gorge, falling about 120 ft. into tbo river. _ The car was passing a lorry at the time, and tho edge of the road gave way. The occupants had a miraculous escape. Tho. car struck a tree in its descent, causing it to tilt forward and throw out the passengers. Tho car- then rolled to tho bottom of the gorge, into 20ft. of water. - ■ .' ' Mrs. Cooke sustained a broken collarbone, a broken jaw, and was severely cut on one- of her hands, but tho others escaped without serious injuries. RUN OVER BY A TRACTION ENGINE. Timaru, January 28. An unmarried man, Jas. Nicholson, was driving a traction engine owned by Mr. Ruddenklau, of Waimate, and soon after leaving Timaru he fell off the step and a loaded trailer lorry ran over him. Nicholson died in a few minutes. He is supposed to have come, from the Lawrence district. MOTOR-CAR. OVERTURNED. . A motor-car, driven by' a Native, came to grief at the southern end of Masterton shortly after noon on Thursday. , Tho car overturned and the occupants were scattered in «U directions. A lad named Frederick Namana was cut about the head, face, and body, and medical aid had to be summoned. The others escaped with a shaking.
