He expects to be back by September. The Cuirassier gelding Join, who |.used to carry R. Hannon's and A. Jackson's colours in this country, and was subsequently raced in Victoria, ohanged hands recently there for £10. Jockey J. Stewart, who was responsible for the horse going to Australia, is now with tho Expeditionary Forces at Cairo. An interesting fact in connection with the decision of the last five Takapuna Cups is that a mare has on each occasion come home at the head of the field. Uranium won in 1810, Soultoria scored in the two succeeding years, Jolie Fille pas returned the winner in 1913, while last year 'Tiresome defeated the opposition. A trio of mares, figure in this year's Takapuna Cop, viz., La Rcin'a, Tinopai, and Self. The . Auckland horseman, A. J. M'Flinn has accepted a retainer- to ride Mr. Gerald jumpers this season. Tim Doolan Will probably be sent across for the Victorian Nationals, and M'Flinn will go over to ride him. llingform (Boniform —Ringdove) has been sold to an Oamaru buyer, and will take up stud duty nest season. T. F. Quinliyan went through to Hawera yesterday. Ho took with him Eligible, a full-brother to Bon Ton, and Sea Pink, The last-named is a noticeable defection from'the Waiiganui entries. Ogier, in charge of H. Goodman, was shipped south last evening. No horse could have racod more kindly than did the son of Nautiloid at Trentham, and if he continues to go on the right way ho will be one of the well-fancied division for the Dunedin Cup. The imported liorso Feramorz has been definitely Tetirod from tho racing tracks, and is to take up stud duty next season. • R. J. Mason is returning from the south this morning, and will take Emporador and Bimctcr to Hawora. J. H. Prosser. with Stepney and Ngaputa (Mahaki—-Lorelei), is leaving for Hawera and New Plymouth on Saturday. Tho last-named is engaged iu the hack hurdle oven Is. at Porfma. The price paid for *he filly was 700 guineas. Tbe light-weight horseman Malcolm Macdonald ia now attached to the Porirua stables. Coleraine (Lupin—Jet), who was supposed to be very unlucky not to win the Grey Handicap at Ellorslie, is engaged in two events at Takapuna today. He will probably 6tart twice, and will be ridden by J. Conquest. There are only four acceptors in the Orowa Hurdles at Takapuna to-day. Cloudy Dawn, who is to bo ridden by M'Flinn, will probably be a warm favourite. Wild Lupin is now trained by his owner at Hawora.
