PROGRESSIVE WANGANUI.
A handsome souvenir booklet has been issued by Messrs. George and ICersley, describing the large new premises recently opened by them in Wanganui. The building is stated to be one of the best equipped in Australasia, and it is added: "In one feature at least .it surpasses even the leading' stores of the large cities in America and the Old World. This feature is its unique frontage of seven, wide and imposing 'island' windows, constructed of 3254 sqnaTe feet of plato glass and finished in Ijurnished copper, with solid oak parquet flooring placed on tile bases. The whole vestibule, which is laid down in artistic English tiles, forms a charming promenade for the leisurely inspection of tho choicest quality goods which aro tastefully displayed by one who understands the artistry of window dressing. The spa-, cioiis interior of this palatial store—tho floor-space of which covers almost an acre—is in harmony with the wonderfully attractive windows." The twenty-four illustrations in the booklet show that the premises throughout have been designed on the most np-to-date lines, and furnish further evidence of the rapidly growing importance of Wanganui as a commercial centre.
