See., Karori Golf Club. FRUIT FREIGHTS ON TRAINS , PROTEST BY STOKE GROWERS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Nelson, January 26. At a largely-attended meeting of the Stoke Fruitgrowers' Association last evening, it was unanimously resolved to protest against a proposal by the Railway Department to discontinue to rail fruit by express trains from Lyttetton to Dunedin and Invercargill. The proposal, if put into effect, would be particularly disastrous to stone fruits and tomatoes. ' . It was further resolved thai Mr. Kirk, Director of Orchards, be requested to interview the Railway Department and press' the urgency of 6oft fruit being railed by express trains as hitherto. We are proud of our national anthem, It just voices our pride without brag, Of love we've no lack for the Union Jack, But we need a real national flag. Something purely our own and Australian, To unfurl without flaunting, be sure; To .guard and uphold our wool and our gold, And our Woods' Great Peppermint Cure.—Advt.
