"NOT REPEATING"
OCOLAR DEMONSTRATION BY THE CROWN PRINCE. New York, December 9. Under date of November 21, in the firing line, in the Argonne Forest, Mr. Karl von Wiegand sends a vivid story of the fighting between the Crowri Prince's troops and the French. Mr. von Wiegand, who is a native of California, went into the foremost trenches by special request of the Crown Prince, who observed, "I would like you to convince yourself I am not retreating, as has been' frequently reported." Accordingly the United Press correspondent was escorted into a. trench recently captured from the French. He came within hearing of the guns around Verdun, the bombardment of which, ho says, "for some unknown reason has been postponed."' - Mr. von Wiegand found the German underground headquarters quite com 7 fortable habitations, thoroughly timbered, with fireplaces, rugs, and carpets lor lloor coverings.
