IW men who were en route.to thß Wairoa Carnival—Patrick Lynch, Leslie Short, Oliver Burke, and Victor Fuller —appeared at the Magistrate's Court to-day charged with conspiring to de> fraud a Native The informant alleges that he lost £100 playing draw poker with accneed on the express train between Wellington and Napier o* Saturday last. The prisoners'were remanded for a week, bail in £100 each 5 , and two sureties of £50 each feine granted.
