ELECTION PETITIONS

NORTHERN MAORI ELECTORATE. The petition, lodged in the Northern Maori electorate against tile rettrrn of Tau Henare as member of Parliament, has been received by the Registrar of tho Snpreme Court at "Wellington, and has been handed on to His Honour the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout), who will appoint Judges and fix tho time ftnd place for the hearing of the petition. The petitioners are Nau Paraone Kawiti, boardinghouse-keeper, of Whangarei, and Maera Kuao, settler, of Tautoro, Kaikolie. The grounds of the petition are that the Returning Officer did not make arrangements for the issue of voting papers to evei? elector and that there were other similar irregularities at polling booths. HAWKE'S BAY SEAT. Their Honours the Chief Justice (Sir Robert Stout) and Mr. Justice Edwards will hear tho petition against the return of Dr. R. M'Nab as member of Parliament for the Hawke's Bay electorate. The hearing is fixed for 10 a.m. on February 22 at the Supreme Court, Napier. TAUMARUNUI SEAT. Tile petition against the retnrn of Mr. W. T. Jennings as member for Taumarunui is to be heard by Their Honours Mr. Justice Cooper and Mr. Justico Chapman. The esact time and place for the hearing have not yet been fixed.
