Wedding in Mar ton. The marriage of Miss Grace Iris Lane, daughter of Mrs. 13. N. Lane, Crofton, Marton, to Mr. E. M. Monckton, son of the late Frederic Monckton, of Featherston, took place on January 20 at St. Stephen's Church, Marton. The church service was conducted by the Rev. V. Kitkat, and tho church was beautifully decorated by friends of the bride. Mies Lane, who was given away by her brother, Mr. J. Lane, woro a cqarming gown of white cropo de chene, with a long ninon pointed train. Tho liodico was draped with honiton lace, and she wore I.er veil arranged cap fashion, and carried a shower bouquet, the gift of Miss Campbell. Tho bridesmaids wore Mies Nancy Lane, tho bride's sister, and Miss Marganet Monckton, Miss Margaret Cox, cousin of tho bride, and Miss Lorna Moncktou, who woro respectively pink, blue, and mauve flowered, ninon tunics and white, and black velvet kite. Mr. Skerratt (Gisborne) was best man, and Messrs. J. Lane, E. Beckett, and H. Dalrymple were groomsmen. Mrs. B. Lane woro mole crepe de chene, and black and mauve hat with feathers. Mr. and Mrs. Monckton left for Napier, the latter ■wearing a powder blue oharmeu66 gown, burnt straw hat, and a fur coat, tie gift of the bridegroom. Wedding In Wanganul. A pretty white wedding was celebrated on January 20 at Christ Church, Wanganui, when Misa L. E. Gertrude Burmiafcon, youngest daughter of Mrs. G. F. Burmiston, and Mr. Sydney Hirst Bailey ; only son of the late .Dr. J. J. Bailey., of Marplo, England, were married. The bride wore white satin oharmeu-so, with dainty veil and bouquet of lilies, and was given away by her cousin, Mr. R. Tempest. The bridesmaids were Miss Edith Burmiston, who wore white brocade with pleated ninon tunic. Miss Molly Bruce, in wilite crepe do chine, and both wore Dutch bonnets of lace in ninon, and carried white bouquets. The best man was Mr. C. White, and Mr. L. B. Midgeley was groomsman. The bridegroom gave gold bar brooches with acqtiamarine stones to the bridesmaids, and to the bride a handsome fur coat/ Mr. and-Mrs. Bailey It-ffc by motor-car for Wellington and Hawkc's Bay. A Christmas Remembrance. Bethell leaves for her home at Pahan Pastures, North Canterbury, to-day. ' The Rev. W. Fancourt and Mrs. Fancourt and family aro spending the holidays at Plimmorton. Mr. and Mrs, S. Harcourt and family aro staying at Muritai. Mr. and Mrs. Coleridge are visiting Greytown. • The friends of Mrs. J. D. Gray will be gka *o hear that hor health has decidedly improved. Mrs. E. 'F. Hadficld has returned from a round of country visits, bringing with her the Misses Alloway, of Marton. Mrs. and the Misses Shirtcliffe return from a trip to England early next week. Mrs. J. Massey returned from Timaru yesterday, and-is staying at Kenilworth. Mrs. White, who has been staying with Mrs. J. Mackenzie.at Karori, returned home on Saturday. Mrs. F. Hume has returned to Wellington from Wanganui, and is staying witli Mrs. Hume, Harbour Viow. -' . — Mrs. Maesey wishes to acknowledge' with thanks parcels of books and magazines from Mrs. Penty, Mr. Shirtcliffe, Mr. J. A. Plimmer, Miss C. M. Adams, Mrs. C. Riehardeon, and Mrs. Davies.
