Font 3'oung men were arrested late on Saturday night on a charge of. conspiring to defrcwd a Maori of nearly £100. Tho Maori was travelling by Saturday's mail train from Wellington in the same carriage as tho accused, who produced a pact of cards, and all playecl draw po&cr, with tho" result that the Maori lost the sum mentioned. The accused were on their way to Wairoa with a side-6how for carnival week there, and aro said to belong to Sydney.
