Heavy, fighting is reported on the Western front, and the Allies have at /many points repulsed attacks, some of them made by the Germans in strong force. Owing to the continued advance of the French in the Woevro district the communications of the Germans in that region with Mete are stated to be in jeopardy. There is little news from the Eastern theatre, but the Russians in Eastern Galicia are within four miles of Dorna Vatra, where Bukowina joins Transylvania and Rumania, An intercepting movement is also in progress from the West which, if successful, will cut off the Austrian defending force from Hungary, and force it over the Rumanian frontier. The Turkish heir-apparent is said to be at the head of a movement in favour of a speedy peace. The movement is gaining ground, though Marshal von der Golta is imprisoning all who openly advocate peace.
