Sir Robort Stout was reappointed Chancellor, and Sir Charles Bowen Vico-Cbancellor, on the motion of Sir Maurice O'Rorke. Tho Chancellor, in returnuig thanks, said tfais would prob- 1 ably be his last term in the position; ho felt ho needed a rest. , It was decided on the motion of' Pro< feasor Hight that the Degrees Examinl ation Committee make-a-recomvueudik tion on tho question of modifying, tut) Statutes relating to dootoirat6s',"so as to ■] make it possible for an honours graduate in arts to proceed to a doctprato on tho presentation of sufficient research , in any branch of any, subject of the.arts course. \ At tie University Senate meeting torf" day Professor Segar moved,' candidates for B.So. he allowed to repeat \ in both pure and applied mathematics:"'^ Professor J. R. Brown seconded tha - motion. Professor Hunter moved'an amend-*' men, "That the matter be referred to tho Board of Studies." ( Tho motion was agreed to, and the, resolution' was referred to - the' Studies; Committee. « , '■ Professor Segar moved, ""That a' student who has won a University scholarship, but for some reason not discred* itable to the student, has had to forego the moluments of Buch scholarship, he Bball continue to enjoy all other privileges." The motion was agreed to, and! the resolution was referred to tho En-: trance Examination Committee. *" Professor Segar moved, • "That a; student having passed the first Beotioß- \ of B.A. or B.Sc. in three subjects, at the end of his, first year shall be allowed! if he desires to repeat the section at the end of his second year in four subjects."
