In town ; the chief and most significant., event.will be the Diamond Jubilee Carnival to. be. celebrated'by a big procession to, and picnic and sports gathering'at, Newtown Park,'an event which has been arranged by the New. Zealand Natives' Association, in : combination., with the Early Settlers' Association. The procession is to set rout from the Post Office Square at 10.80 a.m; There jvill also be a concert in the evening 'to \ round off what' promises to be a. mem- • orable day. / ' . ' .- . There will be - ysoht racing by tM' Port Nicholson. Yacht Club', and a seaside rceatta at Worser Bay, and sports at Melling's Bridge (Hutt)._ ; _ . Outside Wellington, the big attraction , will be the second day of the Wellington Facing Club's summer meeting at Trentham. This event is bound to _ draw : a large section of the sport-loving community. .Another attraction at Trentiiam is the Reinforcements Camp, where 4000 men are at present under carmrt. - .Excursions•'vnll run all oy thd harbour steamers and trains. ■ In the evening, - uhe : military drama, "Under Two Flaes," wilL be staged by the WilloughV Dramatic Company,- the Brennan-Fuller Company will present an up-to-date vaudeville show at . His Majesty's Theatre, and pictures will ba shown'at- the . Theatre, J)pera Hoii'se, New Theatre,; People's Picture Palace, and the.Emnress Theatre. There will also be the Diamotid Jubilee con- . cort at the Town Hall, in the evening.
