For three years in succession tho team from ' Wellington Division, St. John Ambulance Brigade, has won the Hessey Challenge Shield, presented for competition amongst the different, divisions of St. John ambulance brigades throughout Now Zealand. Messrs. Dutton, M'Giwrity, Ward, and Pleasant composed the team which was successful in. retaining the shield against teams from Auckland, Masterton, and Wanganui at the Caledonian Society's sports . at Masterton on New Year's Day. Out of a possible of one hundred points, the Wellington representatives scored' ninety-five. Each member of the team received a gold medal and cash prize. The conditions attached to the competition are as follow:— "Squads will march Into position with closed stretcher, patient will be m position 100 yards from starting point. Word of command will be 'Search for wounded,' squads will double out, render first aid, place patient on stretcher, retire over obstacle (which must be crossed, not knocked down) to starting point, unload stretcher, close stretcher, lower' stretcher, 6tand to attention. Time-limit, 1-5 minutes, to count from order, 'Search (or wounded,' until patient is placed on stretcher."
