SOLWAY SHOW

The annual show of the Masterton A. and P. Association is to be held on .the showgrounds at Solway on February 10 and 17. In addition to the numerous trophies awarded in the Eomn'ey Marsh sheep'section—including the Memorial Shield and the Roiuney Marsh Sheepbreeders' Association's championship gold medal—special trophies will be awarded in 'the Southdown classes. These trophies include the Glenside silver cup, vahied at 15 guineas, presented by Mr. J. Strang for the champion Southdown ram, Mr.. J. Stuckey s prize of £10 for the best Southdown ram under 21 months, and the New Zealand Sheepbreeders' Association's gold medal for the champion ram, as well as tho Masterton A. and P. Association's gold medal for the champjon ram and silver medal for the champion ewe. The other purebred sheep sections—Lincolns, English Leicesters, Border Leicesters, and Shropshires— have also received careful attention at thn hands of the association, valuable gold medals being awarded in the championships. Entries for the show will close with the secretary (Mr.' J. B. Emmett, bos 40, Masterton) on Saturday, January 30, at 9 p.m., late entries being received up tdl Saturday, February 6, on the payment of one shilling per entry late fee. The annual Ram and Ewe Fair will be held at Solway on February 18 and 19. Entries close with the auctioneers on Monday, February 1. No late entries will be accepted. The New Zealand Romney Marsh Association's Ram Fair will be held at 1 p.m. on tJifeprsEday of will be conducted arid controlled by the Masterton A. and P. Association's Ram Fair Committee. The last Fair held at Solway by the Now Zealand Romnoy Marsh Association was in 1912, whenthere were -71-' entries.
