NIGHT ATTACK ON EAST COAST TOWNS
YARMOUTH SHELLED SEVERAL FATALITIES BOMBS DROPPED ON ROYAL SANDRINGHAM GEE AT SENSATION '"■ The sensational news whioh we publish to-day of a Zeppelin raid on the East Coast of England castß all the major operations for the moment into the shade. The people of Yarmouth, on a still, dark night, when amusements were in full swing and the streets crowded, heard the whirr of propellers overhead, and saw in the sky the glancing rays of a searchlight. Then followed ten minutes of horror. Bombs fell in the streets, and several people were killed, while considerable damage was done to property. . Then silence. The raiders disappoarEd into the night, and bombed, in turn, Sheringham, King's Lynn, and Sandringham (where the Royal Residence is situated). Fortunately the King had left that afternoon for London. The coincidence of the raiders' visit and the King's presence in the vicinity has a sinister sound. The raid has caused a great sensation in London, and the Zeppelin bogey haß now become > a reality. Events in the Western theatre are few. Snowstonnß are raging, rendering operations difficult; In the Eastern theatre the Russians are hammering away at the German line, and' further successes on the Lower Vistula, are reported. The Russian pursuit of the Turks from the scene of the great mountain battle of Kara IJrgan has penetrated into the Province of Erzerum, in Turkish territory.
