THE WHEAT SUPPLY
REGULATING THE PRICE OF FLOUR, g "I have had no news from Australia t about the wheat on board the Kaias poi," said the' Prime Minister in conversation with a Dominion reporter yesr torday. "I understand from the n Press cablegrams that there is a proby ability of the ship being allowed to sail, » but we have had no official intimation ji of this. . "The question has been raised as to B what we are doing in the way of regulating the price of flour made from r wheat imported by.' the Government. . What we are doing is this: Any miller to whom wheat is supplied will be expected to sign an agreement to the effect that only a reasonable price will be charged to the consumer for the flour produced from our wheat, and unless a miller agrees to sign, no wheat will be supplied to him. The price has been fixed after consultation between the Prime Minister, the officer I in charge of the business, several re-. , presentative business men, and flour- _ millers. • "The taking of a second wheat census , is now almost complete. We took one in November, and then notice was given to large holders that they.would, 1 not be allowed to exploit the public, 6 and that thoy must dispose of their 3 s t oc ks. Tho information that has 1 0 reached us so far is that in .nearly ? every case holders have . sold- their t wheat." ' _____________ 1 ======
