HIGH COMMISSIONER'S MARKET REPORT. The Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, January 16. (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are . average market prices on spot):— Mutton—The market is steady and prices are well maintained. TKe demand has been stimulated by the high prices for beef and flsh. Canterbury, 5Jd. per lb.; North Island, 5 7-16 d. Lamb—There has been no alteration in the market since last wcck. Canterbury two's, 6gd. per lb.; other than Canterbury, 6 3-Bd. Beef.—The market remains firm. Hindquarters, 6 5-16 d. per lb.; ,forecruarters, 53d.; chilled hinds, 7d.; fores, sgd, Pork.—A small consignment of New Zealand pork has sold at 63d. per lb. Butter.—Tho market is very firm. A good demand continues for colonial butters. Danish, steady, 150s. to 1565. per owt.; New Zealand, firm, a-good demand for all grades, 140s. to 1425.: exceptionally, 1445.; Australian, firmer, 138s. to 1405.; Siberian, firm, a good demand; 1345. to 1385.; Argentine, an active demand, 1365. to 140s. LONDON WOOL MARKET. Messrs. Dalgety and Company, Limited', have received the following cabled information from their London office under date January 16:—"The wool market is firm; quotations for tops being as under: 64's, 25Jd. to 26d.; 56'e, 26d.; 40's (prepared), 19Jd. There is more demand for merinos."
