Mr. John William Copithorne, a resi-i' dent of Wellington for the past thirty..? years, died in Otaki on Sunday. Tho' deceased, who was 58 years of a<m, was' born in Ireland, and arrived in Wellington ui 1884. Hojvas on tho Harbour Board staff here for many yea?s. About the middle-of.-last month he went to Otaki for the" benefit of his health, which, however,; became worse, and he passed 'away ott\ Sunday, In. years gone by Mr. Copi-; thorno was an office-bearer in Wesley; Church, Taranaki Street, and on going to !ivo at Island Bay ho took office in Innity Methodist Cliuroh, Wellington' South. He was a strong supporter of the Central Mission, and a member of Mssonic Lodge Waterloo, and he also belonged to the Newtown Bowling Club. He has left a widow, but no family. The body has been brought to Welling-' ton for interment to-day.
