Arrived.—Paloona (1 p.m.), end Delphic (4 p.m.), from Lyttelton. ARDGARRY DUE TO-DAY. ' A fine modern cargo steamer of 4526 tons, named the Ardgarry, will arrive at Wellington from New York, via. Panama Canal and Auckland, this morning. She has come down under charter to the U.S. and A. Line, and has the distinction of holding the record of 37 days for the journey between New- York and New Zealand. The Ardgarry was completed last year for Long and Fulton, Ltd., of Greenock, and was engaged in the Eiver Plate trade prior to her present trip. Captain Pearson is in command of the vessel, which will commence discharging at the Queen's Wharf this morning. STEAMERS TO LOAD. Several of the New Zealand Shipping Company's steamers whioh have been discharging cargo at Australian porta are about to visit New Zealand for Homeward loading. On inquiry on Saturday a reporter was informed that the chartered steamer Mottisfont will leave Brisbane on January 20 for Wanganui, where she is due a week later. Subsequently the vessel will visit Nelson, Picton, Wellington, Nofiier, Qisborne, Tokomaru Bay. and Welington in. the oTder named. The Mottisfont is expected to get away for London on or about February 15. Now on- lier way from Brisbane the same company's Waimate is due at Wellington on January 21. She will visit Napier, Tokomaru Bay, and Auckland to pick up London cargo, and i 6 expected to clear the northern port about February 7 or 8. EL CORDOBES TO LOAD. From Liverpool, via way ports, the F. and S. Line's steamer El Oordobcs arrived at Wellington . yesterday. She will commence discharging at Jervois Quay this morning, and willproceed on. to Lyttelton and Dunedin on Wednesday. The El Cordobes's loading ports in the Dominion'will bo Titnaru, Lyttelton, Gisborne,' Waitara, and Wellington. She has ■ been fixed to leave the lastrmentioned port for Avonmouth about February 11. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. T. Scott, chief engineer of the Moeraki, having come ashore at Wellington, Mr. P. M'Doijald, late of the Paloona, has filled the position. Mr. H. Btfdgc has taken Mr. M'Donald's place as chief engineer of the Paloona.

Mr. W. Douglas, fifth engineer of the Moeraki, ,hoa signed off that vessel's articles. ■

Mr. P. Ooull, purser of the Pateena, has gone on holiday leave, and Mr. J. B. Smith as relieving him. Mr. D. Butler, late purser of the Waitctnata, has joined the Bukaki in a similar capacity. Mr. P Brewer has signed on the Katoa as second engineer, vice Mr. A. Young. Mr. J. D. Smith, lato purser of the Takopuna, has gone to Dunedin. for instructions. Captain Fernoaux, of tho Wcstport Harbour Board's staff, is at present in Wellington- on holiday leave. Captain Hunter, one of tho Lyttelton Harbour Board's pilots, is at present on holiday leave. • An arrival in the stream at. Wellington from Newcastle yesterday afternoon was the steamer Minerlc. She is in, charge of Captain Hall, and has been sent hero for orders. Telegraphic advice received from Lyttelton yesterday announced the arrival of tho Chatham Islands Fishing Company's steamer Himitangi, from Woitangi. The vessel is expected to leave on the return trp to-day. For the purpose of being placed on tho Wellington Patent Slip for overhaul and survey tho New Plymouth Harbour Board's dredge Parltutu arrived in port from New Plymouth yesterday afternoon. Having completed an extensive overhaul to her hull, the Opouri came out of dook at Lyttelton on Friday afternoon. There is still some work necessary in the engine room and deck and it will be about Wednesday next before she will be reedy for sea again. l Transhipments ex the Waitemata and Aparima will bo sent forward to Napier and Gisborne by the Karamu on Wednesday, next. . It may be recalled that in the early weeks of the war when shipbuilders were being pressed to accelerate urgent naval contracts, Messrs. Yarrow and. Co., of Rcotstoun, offered to distribute £1000 in bonuses to their workmen if certain jobs then on hand -were completed with satisfactory expedition. The men responded with enthusiasm, and during the end of November the firm more than made good their promise, They presented each of their 2500 employees with one of the new ten-shilling notes. The steamer Dalmore, under charter to Mr. G. H. Scales, is expected to clear New Zealand for London early this week. The Government steamer Hinemoa will leave Wellington for Cook Strait lighthouses this morning. Discharge of the local portion of the Eemuems London cargo is expected to be completed in time for her to leave for Lyttelton on Wednesday, January 20.' Due at Wellington from Napier on Jan- I uajy 20, the F. and S. liner Somerset (which Is running under the auspices of the New Zealand Shipping Company) will nil up here and sail for London on January 21. The ohartered steamer Wirral, houn/i from Montreal, via Australian ports and Auckland, Is due at Wellington on January 23. The New Zealand Shipping Company are local agents for the vessel. An expected arrival in. port from Auckland on January 23 is the Home liner Whakatane. Sho will complete loading here, and will be dispatched for London on January 25 or 26. Word has been received by the local office for the New Zealand Shipping OomEany to the effect that the cargo-carrier irari is due at Wellington from Port Said on January 24 to commonce Homeward loading. The Orari. which was H.M.N.Z.T. No. 6, conveyed part of tho Otago sectior, of our forces to Egypt. Advice has been, received stating that the F. and S. Line's Nairnshire, which cleared Wellington on September 18 for Boston and New York, arrived at Liverpool on December 18 and at London on December 26. , The chartered steamer Kakoia, whioh left Wellington for Avonmouth and London, on December i. is due at Avonmouth on January 26.
