DISTRESS RELIEF FUND
POOR OF GREAT {-BRITAIN, IRELAND, AND BELGIUM FUND. The objects of this fnd are to provide by voluntary contributions from the people of New Zealand food, clothing, and general assistance from those m distress in Great Britain, Ireland, and Belgium as a result of the war. The General Committee of the- British and Belgian Relief Fund met on Saturday 'and determined to make further efforts to raise money to assist distressed Belgians. • So far £6500 has been sent forward by this committee, and some £800 is in hand. Fresh subscriptions were started in the room, and, headed by £30 from the Atlas Mill Co., £208 was Teached in a few minutes. The meeting endorsed the resolutions of the Dunedin doctors that the State should bear all tho expense of tho Forces. ' • The Wairarapa Licensed Victuallers' Association has donated £25 to the funds of the Belgian relief. " ' Y.M.C.A. FUND. The following subscriptions for the Y.M.C.A. Fund for the erection, equipment, and -maintenance -of Y.M.C.A. social halls for work among our New Zealand soldiers in Egypt and at Trentham are acknowledged :—F. Ferrim'an, Ashburton, £25; W.
