War is having its effect upon the fashions. English papers announce tliat clothes of English out or millinery of a French pattorn are no longer tolerated in good socicty in Austria. An organisation, with Government approval, has been formed to devise special Viennese styles, which all patriotic Austrians, of both sexes, arc expected to follow. Tho death occurred on Wednesday, says our Featherston correspondent, of Mrs Ralph Hope, one of the oldest residents of Cross Creek. The deceased lady came to Cross Creek from _ Glasgow, with licr husband, ivlio is in tho service of the Railway Department, about forty years ago.
