THE DEATH AT THE GAOL. The coronial inquiry into ihe death of Daniel Murray, who died at the Wellington Gaol last Thursday while on remand there for curative treatment on a charge of helpless drunkenness, was concluded before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., yesterday afternoon. Dr. Gilmer who conducted a post-mortem examination said that deceased had died from valvular disease of the heart and from the state of that organ he (deceased) may have died at any moment. Constable Melville stated that when deceased was admitted to the gaol he was in a.state of collapse. ' After hearin; the doctor's evidence he knew that this state was due to the condition of his heart and not to drunkenness. The Coroner returned a verdict that deceased died from valvular disease of the heart and that everything that was possible had been done for him by the prison authorities. Mr. J. J. H'Grath was present at the inquiry on behalf of deceased's relatives. BURIED AT SEA. Mr. Thomas Ecclesfield, an old and highly-respected settler, was gored by a bull on his farm on Tuesday' afternoon. He died later from the injuries received.
