HIGH COMMISSIONER'S EULOGY . (Reo. January 12, 5.20 p.m.) London, January 11.' The Hon. T. Mackenzie (High Commissioner for New Zealand), addressing the New ZealandeTS at Cairo, said that Lord Kitchener had sent them to Egypt for the purpose of training. < and for guarding the Suez Canal, which some people oalled the "weakest link in the Imperial chain." Ho paid a special tribute to the London Contingent of New Zealandors who were present. The splendid New Zealand Force had fulfilled his prophecy uttered at Queen Victoria's jubilee, "that if the Empire were ever threatened the Now Zealandera would stand shoulder to shoulder with the soldiers cf the Motherland." —"Times" and Sydney "Sun" services. A REO SEA INCIDENT. THE TURKISH GUN THAT DIDN'T. (Reo. January 12, 7.15 p.m.) Sydney, January 12. ' "Banjo" Paterson, the "Herald's"' commissioner with the main Expeditionary Force, 6ays, that there was great excitement on board the transports when orders were issued to get ready to disembark for Egypt, when the men expected to remain on board for weeks yet. He mentions that the expedition was officially informed that the Turks had put up a gun on' the Red Sea with a view to blowing the convoy out of the water, but a force from Aden chased them off and captured the gun.
