GERMAN AIR RAIDERS
ATTEMPT TO REACH DOVER London, January 11. A Zeppelin and three aeroplanes flew over Calais on Saturday night, going in the direction' of Dover. Sixteen aeroplanes were over the Channel on Sunday, travelling towards England. The. weather compelled them to return. Special constables in several of the London suburbs were called out when the news of the aeroplanes in-the Channel was received. > VARIOUS EXPLOITS. Paris, January 11. A French aviator brought down a German tioroplaiie at Amiens. The pilot and observer wore killed. 'ATTEMPT TO FLY OVER PARIS, (Rec, January 12, 8.40 p.m.) Paris, January 12. Two German aeroplanes attempted to ay over Paris, but xho Frenoh aviators soared them off. A THRILLING FIGHT DUNKIRK RAIDERS PUNISHED. (Rec. January. 12, 7.15 p.m ) Dunkirk, Jauuary 12. After the Germans dropped tlioir bombs, two Belgian airmen attacked soven of the Gorman, aeroplanes. It was a thrilling encounter. Tiw Belgians rose seven thousand feet, out-manoeu-vred the enomy, and used their mitrailleuses against them. The battle Jasted forty-five minutes. I'ivo of the Germans fled, and the others rose in the air until the final phases were fought at a height of nine thousand feet. Suddenly one of the Germans oraahed to the earth and waß tailed. The seventh fled to Calais and dropped bombs, which did no damage.
