The insurances in connection with the fire at Penrose's drapery store were:—-Buildings, £4000 in the Alliance office; fixtures and fittings, £1500 in the Alliance, Royal, and Queensland (£SOO each); on the stock. £24,000, Northern £1500, Australian Alliance £1000, London and Lancashire £1000, Liverpool, London, and Globe £1000, National £1000, Norwich Union £1000, Ocean £2000, Phoenix £1000, Royal Exchange £4000, Royal £1500, South British. £2000, State £4000, Queensland £500, New Zealand £1000, Standard £1000. The damage is estimated as follows: — Stock and fittings, £6000; building, £2000. ' ' RAILWAY STATION OUTBREAKS. Inyercargill, January 11. The fire which destroyed the station buildings at Tautapere appears to have started near the letter box lobby, but the origin is a mystery. A considerable quantity of correspondence was lost. Tauranga, January 11. The new railway station at Mount Maunganui, which, was almost completed, was burned down yesterday morning. It is a total loss to tho contractors, who had no insurance. NAPIER SHOPS GUTTED. Napier, January 11. Fire at midnight on Saturday gutted shops in the centre of the city occupied by Risdale as a fancy goods store and soft drinks bar. The building is owned by Mr. Lan Simson and was purchased only last week from tho Loan and Mercantile Company. Insurances:—On the building, £250; on the fittings, £150 in the Union. Risdale was irsured for about £800, hut particulars are not availablo, the owner being away.
