FIFTH REINFORCEMENTS
REQUIRED FOR FEBRUARY.
■ The area Defence Offices have receivfed.the following instruction from.tho distriot headquarters (Palm'erston (North):—
: "Advice has been received that tho quotas from this distriot for the sth i reinforcements will proceed to Trentham jCamp about tho second week in Febru- | axy. Definite instructions in respect to •the numbers required from each group, date of dispatch will bo forwarded iaiter. Owing to the delay and extra [work which is caused when a group is (Unable to fill a required quota, it haß tieen decided that no definite numbers torill be laid down for any group to sup-i-ply. Instead, Group Commanders will Icontinue to furnish the weekly return f'of registrations—volunteers available [to date —and when time of dispatch arJTires, they will be ordered to send forsuch numbers as it is seen they can supply. This will prevent some croups being called upon- to supply further drafts for the same reinforcements • after their original-quota has been com/pleted and dispatched, i . "For the sth reinforcements only Amounted .rifles and infantry are aßked ■ for, no personnel, for other branches of 'the service being required. Group Commanders are therefore advised to re-m-uit for those two arms only, and en'doavour to absorb into them men who have already enlisted for other branches of tho service. "Tho attention, of all concerned is particularly drawn to previous instructions issued respecting the qualifications required by recruits, medical examinations, etc."
