RIFLEMEN'S SMOKE CONCERT
An enjoyable smoke concert was held in Hull's Booms.. Cuba Street, last night, when members of the Suburbs Defence Rifle Club gathered together to celebrate their successes at the recent Trentham meeting of the Wellington Rifle Association. Mr: C. R. Graham (president of the association) va9 in the chair. In an opening address Mr. W. Fellingham referred to the successes of the club and remarked how gratifying it was to have such a young rifleman as Mi-. H. R. Hunt to win the ohampionship. The.members of the' club had won £89. in prize money at the recent meeting. This, he said, was not a record, however, it having been exceeded over two years ago.
The chairman in his speech announced that ihe fine cup on the table had been presented by Messrs. A. D. Kennedy and Co. for 'competition among junior competitors on Anniversary Day, whilo the "Daily Mail" Cup, next to it. was for competition among seniors. Mr. E. J. Carey also spoke and referred to the projected concent by the Rifle Reserve Corps to aind the' relatives of any wounded member of tho Expeditionary Forces.
An enjoyable musical programme interspersed the toast list. Amonc those rendering items were: Messrs. H. M. Petersen, Henderson, A. Barnes, G. C. Warren, Con Connors, Charles, and Peterson.,
