The Wlmmera from Hoboit was reported from Farewell Spit at 4.25 p.m. yesterday and should make! port at an early hour this morning. , After medical inspection she will berth at No. 6 Queen's Wharf. WHEAT STEAMER' LEAVES 6T. JOHN., St. John, New Brunswick, reports that the chartered steamer Heeperos left.there for Wellington on January 5. The steamer . is bringing a special cargo of wheat (about 282.000 bushels) to order for the New ,Zealand Government. KEMUEEA DTJE WEDNESDAY; Bound from London to Wellington the New Zealand Shipping Company's R.M.S. Bemuera was to have left Hobart at 5 a.m, on Saturday. A cablegram has been received by the local office of the TJnion Company stating that the Moeraki cleared Sydney for Wellington at 1 p.m. on Friday, with 80 saloon and 75 steerage passengers on board lor New Zealand ports. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Chrlstchurch, January 10. The London office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has just cabled that the Bakaia left Monte Video on- December 23. This is the first advice received of her safe arrival there, and there have bocil a number of inquiries concerning the ship. The New Zealand Shipping Company'? liner Kaikoura is now en route from London to Dunedin direct, and is due to arrive about January 29.. Wet weather has delayed the Union Company's Monowai at Lyttelton, and she will not arrive at Wellington from the south till to-morrow morning. Departure will bo taken for northern ports at 5 p.m. The steamer Dalmore, which ha 6 been I chartered by Mr. G. H. Scales to load wool in Now Zealand for Home, left Brisbane for Dunedin on Wednesday last. She is due- there about Wednesday or Thursday next, but beyond that her subsequent movements have not been definitely fixed. A ship called tho Latro, 1133 tons, has been fixed to load jarrah at Bussolton for New. Zealand ports. Two Hamburg-Amerika liners—the Baden and Santo. Isabel—which were acting as supply ships to the German cruisers destroyed off the Falkland Islands, hare been captured by British vessels. An endeavour is being made by the Canterbury Steamship Company to secure another 'Tessel for the New Zealand coastal trade. • An offer has been received of a steamer in Buenos Ayres, and with a. view to inspecting this vessel Captain Gordon, late master of the Breeze, is proceeding to the South American port. Mr. Anderson, superintending engineer of the Canterbury Company, is also going to Buenos Ayres from England. If a purchase is effected tho steamer will he brought to New Zealand by Captain Gordon. An. oxpcctcd arrival in port from New York, via Auckland, this morning is the A. and A. Line's Skipton Castle. She will discharge at .Tcrvois Quay Wharf. Messrs. Bannatyno and Co. adriee that tho Defender will sail from Wellington for Hokitika at noon to-morrow. ; Latest advices concerning tho C. and D. liner Makarini arc to the effect that she will arrive at Wellington from London, via way ports, on January 25. It will bo Thursday of this week before the Union Company's training .steamer Aparima will arrive at Wellington from Calcutta, via, south. A laTge shipment of butter and cheese will arrive at Wellington by the Corinna from New Plymouth to-morrow. Tho freight, which consists of 12,037 boxes butter and 6744 crates chcose, will bo transhipped to the Somerset for Homo markets. It is probable that the coastal steamer Pukaki will take, tho Aparima's transhipments from Wellington to Auckland. At 9 a.m. on Saturday the local office of tho Union Company received the following wire from the Gvcymouth office:— "Weather very bad.
