N.Z. MASTER BAKERS
'ANNUAL REPORT. \ RESIGNATION OP WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. The annual report of -the Now Zealand United Master t Bakers' Association, to be presented at the conference to be held in Dunedin to-morrow, states that during tho early part of the year' the executive was gratified at the prospects of the association. The Canterbury Master Bakers' Association, which had. contempleted resigning from the association at the last conference bald in Auokland, notified the executive of the' withdrawal of their resignation, which was much appreciated bv the 1 executive. The enthusiasm which the Canterbury Master Bakers' Association had .. shown during the year augured well for the success of the present conference. An important matter will be brought under the notice of delegates by that association regarding the standard method of weighing the dough prior to baking. " The report continues to state that tho J executive was pleased to :state that the Manawatu Master Bakers' Association applied for affiliation on July 9, 1914, and were welcomed as members 'of the association. The Manawatu Association C had evidently a grievance in regard £ to .tea rooms in their district, on ac- I count of the award not being made applicable to them. It is hoped that tho matter wiD be fully discussed at the - conference in order that some united ■« action may be taken to have the matter J] rectified. ' T "We regret that during the year (in August) the Wellington Master Bakers' S Association, by giving twelve months' notice, tendered its resignation as members of the United Association," ™ continues theY report, "and we trust that they will be represented at the conference in ordor that, the position ■ may bo fully discussed. The Invercar- n gill Association has instituted a new E system with the delivery of bread, and tl we hope with-the assistance of the " Invercrgill delegates to be able to have T the scheme fully discussed._ . '-'The Hawke's Bay Association is still , on the defaulters' list, and we regret * that it has not had the courtesy to reply to our correspondence. p \Ve endeavoured to form, an association during the year in Oamaru, but on _ account'of the differences in the trade -i there it has so' far proved futile, prob- i ably due to a cooperative company commencing business in that district. "The following associations are mem- „ bers of, the united body:—Auckland, ,j Canterbury, Dunedin, Hawke's Bay. In j vercargill, Manawatu, South Centerbury, Wellington, and West Coast.: The finanoial position is most satisfactory, considering that the subscription was reduced at the last conference. The Bakers' Award will expire at the end of the incoming year, and this question will require the serious consideration of delegates attending the conference, especially in view of the fact that it will , probably be a Dominion award."
