TRENTHAM CAMP.

Sir, —'Writing as an old soldier, per- ' haps a few lines re the camp may not be out of place. The soldiers hare been well provided for in every respect. Well do the old S.A. Contingent men know it I ' One great boon is the abundance of hot water always available for washing mess I tins arid utensils, and the care taken by the authorities that these aire pro- . perly clean and ready for the 'next i meal. The rations issued are good and plentiful; How different from the conditions under which we enlisted fourr teen years ago,_ when both quality and . quantity of rations v left much to be im--1 proved upon. v As to the hours of relaxation, one i cannot say too much for the authorities ) of. the Presbyterian and Salvation 'Army institutions. The former especially, without stint provides an inexhaustible supply : of stationery arid- illustrated 0 papers, with comfortable chairs : and ■- tables for the soldiers. The letter paper, ® leaded "N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is greatly to a soldier's liking. It simply • appeals to him as a soldier, with no r mention of any special creed, and the dear old gentleman who came to New 3 Zealand for holidays and rest and spends it in working and thinking how to help us colonial boys, is beloved by all. Do >„ not let any adverse accounts have any weight with the New Zealand public. There is no cause or reason for complaint in any way, and the boys in 0 camp now are all hardy men, and given treasonable time fov military training will be a tough proposition later on when'put to the test. 1 .—I am. etc., i ' TROOPER. Trentham Oarap, January 9.
