Mr. R. P. Davis has taken over tho management of tho Queen's Private Hotel, Plimmer's Steps, where visitors and permanent boarders arc promised excellent accommodation in the centre of the city. Tariff is advertised. An entertaining programme was presented by Mrs. H. Colpus to the sailors in port at tho Sailors' Friend Society last night, when there was a large gathering. Tho intervals between the songs were filled in with quaint short stories. Mr. Moore was in the chair. Tho performers wero: Airs. Carter and tho Misses Jensen, and M'Geo, and Messrs. Sign, Cogdale and Jenkins, and C. and H. Colpus, and Master Sherwood.
