David Kennedy, a single man. aged 20 years, was killed by a fall of earth in a mining claim at Maerewhenua this' morning, FOUND DROWNED. ... Dunedin, January 8. J At the inquest this morning on thr ' body of James Smith, which was foun* in the harbour, it was stated that dV ceased had been drinking heavily late-/ ' iy. tie was a wharf labourer, and for-' tnerly a seaman. A verdict of found drowned was returned. There was no evidence to show how the body got into the water. ..■>-.*> «>» ACCIDENT IN LAMBTON QUAY. , A man named A. Pike, who was rid >ng a motor bicycle, collided with » motor-car in Lambton Quay yesterday afternoon, suffering injuries to his head. Pike, who resides at 18 Boy' Street, Newto-vn, was riding his bicycle round QumWs corner into Lambton Quay when he collided with the motorcar, which was owned and driven' by Dr. Pattie. Pike collided head on; and his machine was dragged for some distance in front of the car. Dr. Pattie rendered first aid to Pike, who -was-'re-moved to the Hospital. His injuries, were not serious, and he was discharged from the institution some time later.
