(Rep. January 8, 9.35 p.m.) Petrograd, January ?. . Official.--With the exception of an isolated action pp. the Sukha-Bolinoff front, there is a complete calm on the left bank of the Vistula. The Germans, in order to approach our positions, tried siege methods, advancing in certain places that were mined, using steel shields for cover.We regained the trenches in the region of the village of Sukha, captured by the Germans on January 6. We cap tured five machine-guns and a number of prisoners. The position is unchanged elsewhere. - ,'. i 'i--" SIGNIFICANT PREPARATIONS IN VIENNA.. . (Rec. .January 9, 0.80 a.m.) • Rome, January 8. The authorities in Vienna are actively entrenching, constructing fortifications, and accumulating stores of foodstuffs.
