Hawke's Bay. supporters were inclined to blame the poor display of tlie looal team yesterday to the state of the wicket, but they were deprived of that excuse to-day, when on a perfect pitch they only exceeded the first innings by ten, and gavo a win to Canterbury by an innings and 149 runs. Stevens (34), Napier (10), and Spackman (12) were the only three to ■ see double figures, the last wicket falling when the Bcoro stood at 99, of which ten were extras. The bowling analysis reads: —Hickmott, none'for 2; Patriok, none for 23; M'Lachlan, five for 17, Satdman, none for 7; Thomas, three for 0; Bennett, none for 14; and Bi6hop, one for 19.
