» TERRITORIAL ACCIDENTALLY SHOT. A' shooting accidont, resulting in a young Territorial named Philip Lonnon being shot through the groin with a revolver, occurred on Somos Island yosterday morning. Lonnofl, who has been engaged in guarding tho Gorman prisoners of war on the island, was in nis tent with a companion, when tho latter accidentally dropped a loaded revolver which ho was cleaning. Tho fall made ono of tho charges go off, the bullet passing clean through Lennon's thigh. First aid was rendered by Sergeant Herds, the dispenser of tho camp, and others, and the injured man was conveyed to town by the Defenco launch kept at ithe island. Lennon was immediately transferred to the ambulance which was waiting, and taken -to Ike Hospital. His condition is not serious. 'A DEATH AT THE GAOL. A death occurred at tho Terraco Gaol yesterday morning, Daniel Murray, who had been remanded thero for mcdical treatment on a charge of helpless drunkonness, dying. Deceased was 35 years of age and was the possessor of a bank book which showed deposits made at Christcliurch, Wellington, Uppor Hntt, and Paekakariki. An inquest will be held to-day. FOUND DROWNED. The body of a man, about 85 years or age, apparently a waterside worker, was found floating in the harbour this morning, near the Victoria Wharf.
