SUPPLY OF HORSES
FOR BRITISH TROOPS London, January 6. Within -twelve days of the order for mobilisation, the Remount Department supplied 36,000 excellent horses for the Expeditionary Force,'Bo,ooo for the Territorial?, and 18,000 for the Reserves. It subsequently purchased bO,OOO. . Canada sent 20,000 high-grade cavalry and artillery horses. A feature of this war has been the introduction of heavy draughts _ for transport services, and the economising of light draughts for the artillery.—' "Times" and Sydney "Sun" services.
