FLOODS IN ENGLAND
CATTLE AND PIGS SWEPT AWAY (Rec. January 6, 5.30 p.m.) London, January c. Continued rain and a high spring-tide have caused the flooding of the upper reaches of the Thames, and cattle and pigs have been swept away. Children have been shut out'of flooded schools. The Eton playfields and Oxford Park are lakes. • At Reading bakers and grocers art' delivering goods through upper jyindows, Lighthouse-keepers on the coast havrt been out off of supplies for fivo week's owing to heavy weather. —("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.) CANADIAN SOLDIER DROWNED. (Rec. January 6, 10.50 p.m.) London, January 6. Considerable damage was done m the Fen County and' Somerset. Salisbury Cathedral was flooded. Access to the camp oil Salisbury Plain was impeded. A member.of the Canadian force was Crowned. Oxford is surrounded with water.
