SHE CANNOT WIN
-'GERMANY REALISES IT
London, January 5. The Washington correspondent of the "Times" states that wide publicity has been given to a London telegram published yesterday, to the effect that Germany now realises that she cannot win. In various subtle ways, efforts are being made to capitalise tlie hopes expressed by President Poincare, the Kaiser, and others for peace by next Now Year's Day. ■' Such activities cannot he ignored, and undoubtedly point to the fact that German and American financiers are dismayed, having relied on the assurances from Berlin that it would be a short war. —("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.)
