(From Our Own Oorr«ssond«it.; A Masterton resident has received a copy of the "Cape Times," ill which it is stated that Captain F. B. Knyvett, of the Natal Light Horse, and formerly of Auckland, was wounded on November 18 in a fight with the rebels rear tbie Orange River. Three rinks of Napier-howlers paid-a visit to Masterton on Tuesday, and played [friendly games on the local Club's green. , ; ' ' Seventeen motor-cars and 14 motorcycles have been registered iri Masterton during the< last three months. ' ' It has now been definitely decided that a camp of the 17th Ruahine Regiment shall be held on the Opaki racecourse, near Masterton, about the end of March.

Sixty-six civil cases were heard in the Magistrate's Court at Masterton during the. quarter ending December 31. The amount sued for was £1464 17s. 3d., and the amount recovered illMi 12s. 6d. . . c The vital statistics for Masterton for the year 1914 were as follow: —Births, 260; marriages, 78; deaths, 64. There wero ten convictions for drunkenness in Masterton during the month of December. This is the largest number of convictions for any month during the year. •
