MASTERTON NOTES.
Mr. A'. C. Williams, i. well-known local athlete.) who is joining the Expeditionary Reinforcement,.was entertained .'on Tuesday evening by the members of the local Hockey Club.
' A considerable consignment of frozen meat is being railed to Wellington by the Waingawa freezing works'this week for'shipment to England. Another batch of between thirty and forty men will leave Maeterton for .the Trentham camp on /Wednesday morning. The continued dry -weather is having a marked effect upon the supplies to the various dairy factories throughout the Wairarapa. The Masterton dairy factory is now turning out only twentyseven boxes 'of butter daily, and this quantity 'is• expected to' ho reduced during the next few weeks. '• ■ The election of officers of the Masterton Lodge of Oddfellows resulted as follows:—N.G., Bros. G. Forman; V.G., Bro. J. J. Evans'; E.EL Bro. J A. Carswell; W., Bro. A. M'KWie; C, Bro. J. 0. Pinkey. P.G. Bro. Smith and Bro. J. Winskill were appointed, delegates to the district meeting. Wild pigeons and pigs are reported to bo fairly nuineroua in the bush country at the- back of Alfrodton.
