A' WHAM? LABOURER'S DEATH.

An inquest was held at the Wellington Hcispital yesterday by Mr. D. &• A. Cooper, S.M., into the death. of 0. J. Wood, a wharf labourerj who dierf at the institution oh New Year 6 Day from injuries received through an accident on the Railway Wharf. Evidence was given by, Dr. Mathcson that. cm. deceased's adtiiisfiiort to the Hospital on Thursday an operation was found necessary. ' At first deceased rallied, bit on January 1 .succumbed Death was due to septic peritonitis and rupture of tho small bowels. Evidence was also given by two wart hands, Harry Diver and Edward lutzherben, to the effect that they were engaged nqth deceased m loadnig the steamer Somerset, and though they di not see the actual accident they found deceased jambed between tho buffers or two trucks. First-aid was rendered, and deceased was removed to his. home. Later he was taken to the Hospital. - At this stage the inquest was adjourned until to-day.

FOUND DEAD. Clsborne, January 4. . George Baxter, aged 46, a Swm®! was found dead, in Tokomaru Bay Hotel with a wound over his heart and a repeating rifle alongside him. .
