rijV.:. ■"" '"FURTHER DETAILS OP THE INCIDENT. (Rec. January 2, 1.15 a.m.) Sydney, January 1. Details of the Broken Hill affair aro meagre. Rain is interrupting telegrams. Later messages state that four were killed, the fourth being an elderly man named James Greig. Eight were wounded, including two girls and a boy, four being seriously wounded. Millard was shot while- riding alongside the train track. The second Turk has succumbed to his wounds.- ■ Twelve hundred were aboard fche train. The Turks started the attack from an ice-cream cart, from whioh' _ the Turkish flag flow. They then took cover behind a railway embankment within close range, making the shooting deadly. In making their way from the scene of the attack to the rocks tho Turks knocked at a house door. On the inmate appearing a few words passed, and they shot him through the stomaoh. After the attack the train was taken to the Silverton Company's siding. The wounded were removed and doctors were telephoned for. ' So far there are no details of the identity of the attaokers or their reasons for the attack. It is believed it was the outcome of, the war with Turkey. There is great excitement in the town.
