The huge battle:continues..rughfc and day without The usual order is 'fighting all day. . . . In the last position I was in wo never lcrt tne guns for sis days and nights, so you can imagine the sleep wo get. We are very confident. The Germans; make many attacks every night, but.are always repulsed. . - , i ■ '. " : "Several pieces of shrapnel have been, closer to mo than I care for, and one morning, when not •in battle, a .sniper nearly warmed my left ear up.;:: The. snipers are very difficult'.,to .locate. Usually the most we can find is a quiet civilian, humbly hoeing weeds. ;' There are so many Belgian refugees here, that it is difficult to got hold of the snipers. One of our officers was shot by.one be., tween our. 'guns,and--the regiment. Theso men are specially detailed to pick off officers.■ The Sikhs are-stalking and silencing them now. . The tales of German atrocities which you read about are perfectly truo. I have seen some 'pittful sights, especially among rofugees. .'•
