ELLALINE TERRIS
SINGS TO THE WOUNDED

London, Decomber 31. Miss Ellaline Terris, who has been singing to the wounded in Boulonge, says she departed an actress and has returned a recruiting sergeant. She says she spent the most memorable Christmas of her life. The men are wonderful in their amazing cheerfulness., even the worst of the wounded joke and smile. Her most moving experience was in singing "It's a Long Way to Tipperary," the patients joining in the chorus. —. "Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
Miss Ellaline Terri6s is the wife of Mr. Seymour Hicks, the musical comedy actor-manager, who,- according to a cable message "received last week,- proposed to give theatrical performances at suitable places and times along the Allies' fighting line in Flanders and the North of France." Miss Terriss is the daughter of the late Wm. Terriss, and was born at the Falkland Islands, trained for the stage in England by her father, and has bean a footlight favourite ever since she' made her first appearance with Sir Herbert Beerbohm Tree in "Cupid's Messenger" at the Haymarket, London, when sixteen years of age. She is equally at home in musical comedy, comedy, and drama. Mr. Seymour Hicks has soldier blood in his veins. His father was Major Hicks, of the 42nd Highlanders.
