SCULLING
THE HANNAN-WEBB MATCH. \ ■ A week' has now elapsed since Han'nan challenged .Webb publicly through the columns of The Dominion to row for the professional championship i of New Zealand and. $200 aside, and no reply haß been made by Webb, either to Hannan, The Dominion, or, as, far as we can. trace, through tho Wanganui papers. 'As stated beipre, Hannan had lodged a deposit with us to bind i the match on his side, but there seemb no ardent desire on the part of the Wanganui man to commit himself to a .match. This, makes his claim to the championship of Now Zealand (as made in the "Referee") somewhat inexplicable. As it is now some six years since Webb, was beaten twice in succession by Arust,' it is hardly likely that he would bo able to'.reproduce his old form, but still it was thought -that ho might give'tho same encouragement to Hannan as Charles Towns gave him in Sydney when the sculling championship of the world was lost and won.
