RIFLE-SHOOTING

WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING. Friday next, January 1, will be a busy day for the Wellington shooting men at Trentiam, where the> annual championship rifle meeting of Wellington will be held. Tho "group" programme will ,be carried out at. the same time, so that the Wellington, open championship, Territorial championship, and Senior Cadet championship, both individual arid teams, will all. be decided this week. For the open championship, entries have been received from both North and South Island, and the competition promises to' be very keen. Very welcome entries are those of several members of the Expeditionary Force now in camp at Trentham, and their success would be pleasing to all. Lieutenant-Colonel Potter, camp commandant, is assisting the Welliitetori Rifle Association in many ways, and has stated that any man in camp, desiring to take part in the. meeting, will ho allowed to do so. Territorials of No. 5 Group, who nre now in camp with the Expeditionary Force, are eligible to lire in the group section of the meeting. A supply of ammunition will be on tho ground, for purchase by competitors'. Additional donations have been received from Colonel R. J. Collins, Major W. Simm, and Mr. J. G. Newton.
